BUY - HOLD - SELL RATINGS
The rating that we apply for each stock are assigned based upon DeMarche's proprietary research. At any given time, approximately 20 percent of the stocks will be assigned a "buy" rating; approximately the same percent being noted as "sell"; and the remainder of stocks for which a rating is assigned are noted as "hold".  >> Learn more.

  • Buy - A stock is designated with a "buy" rating when it is expected to outperform the overall market.
  • Hold - A stock is designated with a "hold" rating when it is expected to be in-line with the overall market.
  • Sell - A stock is designated with a "sell" rating when it is expected to underperform the overall market.

DeMarche's Buy/Hold/Sell ratings are updated weekly. The ratings will be updated each Thursday after the close of the market, subject to major holidays. Typically the ratings will be posted before the market opens the next business day.

GROWTH/VALUE RATINGS
DeMarche uses a unique multi-factor definition of growth and value. While most commonly used sources use one or two factors, we use eight factors to define growth and value. >>  Learn more.

  • G1 - High Growth (Dominant Growth Factors)
  • G2 - Moderate Growth (Moderate Growth Factors)
  • V2 - Moderate Value (Moderate Value Factors)
  • V1 - High Value (Dominant Value Factors)

QUALITY RATINGS
Stocks are placed into deciles based on the proprietary DeMarche Defensive/Aggressive factors, decile 10 being highest, decile 1 being lowest. >>  Learn more.

  • D9 - D10: Highest Quality
  • D7 - D8: Higher Quality
  • D5 - D6: Mid-Quality
  • D3 - D4: Lower Quality
  • D2 - D1: Lowest Quality

EXPECTED GROWTH
I/B/E/S analysts expected long-term growth rating (as measured by quintile).

  • Q1: High
  • Q2: Moderate-to-High
  • Q3: Moderate
  • Q4: Low-to-Moderate
  • Q5: Low

EXPECTED RETURN RATINGS
Relative to the DeMarche 3,000 most liquid securities based on the DeMarche Factor model.>>  Learn more.

LIQUIDITY

  • Q1: Highest
  • Q2: Moderate-to-High
  • Q3: Moderate
  • Q4: Low-to-Moderate
  • Q5: Lowest

Trading Volume: A measure of the dollar trading volume averaged over the last year (as measured by quentile). A high trading volume signals more liquidity.

Price Concession: The price concession required to trade 10,000 shares(as measured by quentile). A low price concession signals more liquidity.

INDUSTRY

  • DeMarche industry ratings are based on the standard S&P industry codes.

Ratings including Growth/Value, Quality, Expected Growth, Expected Return, Trading Volume, Price Concession and Industry, will be updated on a monthly basis. The updated ratings (excluding Buy/Hold/Sell ratings) will be posted on the 5th business day of each month following the previous month-end market closing.
